It may be ensconced in the shambling, medieval Old Town of Bologna, but this flash studio apartment is the opposite of old-fashioned. First, there are the bright yellow racing stripes behind the big bed. Then, there’s the canary-yellow kitchen sitting against a coal-black canvas. A huddle of yukka plants adds a bit of greenery too. Stepping outside the building, you’re immediately in a medieval world of ancient, porticoed streets where cafés and restaurants spill out onto the covered pavements. Stroll through this labyrinth of rose-coloured buildings to Piazza Maggiore, Bologna’s main square a seven-minute walk away. If you’re not sampling the local, freshly-made tortelloni in family-run restaurants or sipping neon-bright spritz at aperitivo, perhaps load up on the fresh, local market produce for a feast at home.
