Southern Jutland offers some of Denmark’s most scenic landscapes – from deep valleys to fields, woodlands, and beaches, the natural world reigns supreme. So while the seaport town of Kolding is just a twenty-minute drive from this home, and some of the country’s largest cities are two hours away by car, staying here feels somewhat off the beaten track. The tiny village of Hejlsminde plays host to this fabulous house. Built in 1909 and renovated in 2016, it takes inspiration from all sorts of eras in the century it has witnessed. From the outside, it has the appearance of a farmhouse or stable – a nod to the agricultural industries of old. But with luxe features like a sauna and a whirlpool tub available for pamper sessions, this home’s spa-like offering feels much more 21st-century chic. We love the elegant interiors that blend effortlessly with the natural world. A glass conservatory-like lounge extends the views of the water, lush potted plants sit alongside a wooden upright piano, and original timber beams work in contrast to the glass bannister on the mezzanine floor. And while the swimming pool might not be as vast as your views of the Lillebælt strait, it’s perfect for taking a plunge to start the day afresh.
