Northern Jutland is an environment for nature-lovers, where you can explore wildlife reserves and camp under the stars with the scents of pine. In this organic landscape, even urban adventurers will be catered for – this home is just a forty-minute drive from Ålborg, Denmark’s fourth-largest city. But upon return, you’ll get back into the bosom of mother nature. The nearest village is Blockhaus, four minutes away by car, on the shores of Jammer Bay. This wooden house sits among forest trees, raised on a slight hill where you can survey your kingdom with ease. Despite its traditional look, solar panels and geothermal heating bring this home into the 21st-century, as well as creating a respectful bond with nature. We imagine you’ll spend a lot of time outdoors, whether it’s sipping mjød on the wraparound decking, or freshening up in the outdoor shower on a hot afternoon. Inside, modern interiors bring light and air into the living space. We love the white wood on the apex ceiling and skylights ushering the sunlight in. Serve up Danish cuisine in the charming dining area while the kids keep entertained in the playroom. And after dinner, pour yourself a glass of something fizzy and spend the night in your Jacuzzi tub.
