This family home is all substance and style in a trendy western suburb of London. First of all, we love the book-filled living room with ming vases and object d’art adding a personal feel to the forest-green dresser. Big windows bathe this place in natural light. There’s a desk in here (and another in the second bedroom) for those that need to work remotely, and a collection of wines on display for a post-work wind-down. A wall of glass doors leads to the private patio garden, providing a lovely sun spot for those wishing to sit out and unwind long into the balmy summer evenings. Back inside, the dine-in kitchen is bright and sunny and the bathroom has a tub for a soak at the end of the day. In terms of neighbourhood, you’re in leafy-green Chiswick – an affluent area with a friendly village-like feel, offering elegant eateries and a whole plethora of classy cafés and designer boutiques along the High Road. A fifteen-minute walk across the Kew Bridge sees you at the sprawling botanic gardens, while you can join the Thames River Path for a traffic-free stroll or cycle in just five minutes (your host kindly provides two bicycles for... guest use). Hop on the Tube at Kew Bridge, a five-minute walk away, and be in the centre of London in around fifteen minutes.

About Chiswick
Chiswick is a riverside village turned desirable suburb, where attractive period properties and ample green spaces, together with a vibrant mix of independent shops and restaurants on its leafy High Road attract families who want to retreat to a part of London with a real community feel. It's not the place to stay if you want to explore the city's nightlife, but would be ideal for visitors wanting a peaceful retreat to return to after hectic sightseeing.
Explore the area
Local restaurants, cafes, museums, sites and activities, recommended by our community of hosts and travel experts

Take a stroll through Walpole Park
One of the little hidden gems of this area. Walpole park isn't a huge green space but makes for a lovely afternoon in the sun. Especially if you take a spot beside the lake and 200 year old bridge.

Quench your thirst after a riverside walk
After strolling the banks of the Thames, stop for an ale and a bite at the cosy City Barge Pub with its inviting terrace overlooking the river - serving thirsty boatmen since the 14th century.

Explore the London Museum of Water & Steam
Step back in time at this Victorian pumping station and discover the fascinating history of London's water supply. With hands-on exhibits, play areas for kids, and a charming cafe, it's an informative and enjoyable attraction for the whole family.

Grab a top breakfast at Annie’s
Great for any meal to be fair, but the succulent buttermilk pancakes and perfectly poached eggs make this an absolute winner for a lazy breakfast or brunch in a warm and welcoming setting.

Get cultured at the Musical Museum
Housed in a converted church, it contains one of the world's foremost collections of automatic musical instruments. The museum's coffee shop overlooks the river, making a nice location for a cuppa.

Enjoy food & drinks at One Over the Ait
This stylish, industrial style pub perched on the Thames is the perfect place to make your local with its selection of Fuller’s cask ales, delicious seasonal dishes and hearty Sunday brunches.

Eat day or night at the Strand Cafe
This charming family-run cafe & restaurant offers a warm welcome and a cosy atmosphere for filling up on a full English breakfast in the morning and delicious, authentic Thai dishes for dinner.

Explore Gunnersbury Park
A leafy park on a once-grand estate, offering scenic views, a free museum, and a variety of activities including pedal-boat hire. Perfect for families, dog walkers, and sports enthusiasts.
