If you're ready to experience the oldest and most authentic neighbourhood in Lisbon, this could be just the place for you. Set on a typically narrow street, lined with historic buildings, it's a traditional second-floor home with a very special secret. This city centre apartment comes with outside space in the form of a large patio with a central orange tree – and yes, you can help yourself to fruit in season. Spend your days roaming the ancient streets and exploring the sights (you're never far from a Fado restaurant here) and come home to cook for the whole gang in the bright, open-plan living room, before padding out to the patio to eat together as the sun sets. Inside, it's a stylish mix of modern minimalism and country comfort. All-white walls and wood floors keep everything cool, while period touches like Juliet balconies and shuttered windows add elegance. There's room for a large group, with one bedroom boasting a huge walk-in dressing room, and we think it's a delightful neighbourhood. With loads going on nearby, and plenty of good restaurants within a short walk, you may not want to go far, but there are excellent transport links if you do.
