In the beautiful Tuscan countryside outside Lucca (a twenty-minute drive away), this villa epitomises la dolce vita. From your vantage point atop a verdant hill, you can gaze out over vineyards and olive groves – explore the local area by car for tastings at local wineries and olive farms. Perhaps bring back some spoils for a spot of aperitivo on the terrace. There are plenty of patios, balconies and shaded leafy nooks to choose from in the garden. Day beds and loungers line the poolside and the view from here, over the misty Tuscan hills all the way to Lucca, is particularly magnificent at sunset. The villa itself is a traditional medley of thick stone walls and a terracotta roof; just like the Tuscan farmhouses of old. The decor leans into the rustic vibe with wooden ceilings and stone walls on display, alongside ancient stone hearths in the living room and dining room. A mish-mash of dark wood antique furniture and floral sofas feel straight from the 19th century and a brickwork floor keeps things cool underfoot. Bedrooms are a delight to wake up to, with panoramic countryside views from the wood-shuttered windows.
