Snowcapped mountains in the winter, verdant meadows filled with wildflowers in the summer, and at the heart of it all, the dazzling blue waters of Lake Zeller – this is what makes Zell Am See a must-visit destination all year round. Whether you're keen to hike the trails or hit the slopes, you'll never run out of things to do in this charming town. Better still, all the attractions are within easy reach – you've got the lake a seven-minute drive away, the skiing area is a mere 100m walk and Schmittenhöhebahn cable car is five minutes on foot. The best place to take in the stunning scenery is your private balcony, where you can relax with a glass of wine in the springtime and catch the sunshine. We think the views are pretty spectacular – we can already picture ourselves enjoying alfresco meals as the mountains stand tall in the distance. During the winter, curl up with a glass of hot cocoa on the cosy sofa and admire the powdery peaks from the enormous windows. Or, after a long day skiing, unwind sore muscles with a session in the shared sauna. You'll also find a storage room for bikes and skis and a ski-boot drier on-site, so you'll have plenty of room to store your gear.
