Is it just us, or are you also amazed by how far cabins have come? Gone are the moth-eaten throws, rustic brown kitchen cabinets, and couches so old the springs have gone, and in are polished cabinetry, minimalist design, plush sofas, and crisp furnishings. Don't get us wrong, we love vintage, but when modern manages to encompass the same element of cosiness, we can’t resist. You’ll see what we mean when you visit this home on the ski resort of Kötschach-Mauten in Austria. Not only does the use of wood inside echo the natural surroundings, but there are murals that pay homage to the gorgeous vistas in the vicinity. Explore them all, as you ski, hike, and drive around, and when you’re not busy admiring the mountain views, you might instead opt for a night ski tour of Heuhuette, or find yourself in competition to build the grandest igloo. After a long day of adventuring – there’s also an option for rafting in the Gail, only a twenty-minute drive away – you can return to this nest, get the heater going and just kick back with a steaming cup of cocoa.
