Nestled away beside a lake close to the Cotswolds, this contemporary lodge is the ideal spot for uninterrupted relaxation broken up only by a session or two of carp fishing. With no neighbours to worry about, guests can sit outside on the terrace overlooking the water, looking out for wildlife and gazing at constellations once the sun's gone down. If the temperature ever takes a dip, the views out of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living space are just as special — plus, you can always put some kindling into the log burner so you can get toasty and warm. Despite the rather rustic location, the interior is rather fresh and modern, especially the white walls, wooden floor and chic furnishings. There are lots of nearby lakes — gravel pits in a former life — on which you can try your hand at watersports such as paddle boarding, kayaking and even jet skiing. If that sounds a little too hi-octane, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the surrounding area, while the centre of Cirencester takes a quarter of an hour to reach in the car, too.
