Sure, it may not have the Caribbean's climate, but Scotland has some of the most beautiful beaches and stretches of coastline in the world — something you'll surely come to agree with when you pay a visit to this Victorian house overlooking Largo Bay. Fortunately, given the picturesque location, there are plenty of alfresco spots where you can gaze out at the point at which the sea meets the sky. Out on the terrace, there's an alfresco dining table and seats, but the balcony found off one of the bedrooms offers a bit of elevation. The views are just as pleasant out through the windows and have the added benefit of inviting ample amounts of natural light to the interior. The design is quite contemporary given the home's age, with walls painted in nautical shades of blue and kitchens dominated by sleek surfaces. When the weather's on your side, there's a beach at the end of the walled garden and the host has a double kayak that guests are welcome to borrow. A little further afield, the town of St Andrews, known for its golfing prowess and university, can be reached in just under twenty-five minutes' drive.
