What better way to enjoy a trip to historic Whitby than with a stay in a cute old gatehouse cottage? The fairytale feel is fully embraced here, with a hand-carved wooden table and chairs outside like a pixie’s picnic table. Inside, the raw wood kitchen looks like it belongs in a woodcutter's cottage and the velvet sofas are fit for a princess. Both bedrooms are cosy snugs for peaceful sleep and there’s a dedicated laptop desk tucked in an alcove by the stacked bookcase. Despite it feeling like you’re staying in a fairytale woodland cottage, you’re within walking distance of the centre of Whitby. It’s a fifteen-minute walk to the town centre and train station. From here, you can discover the shambling old streets, harbourside and promenade lined with arcades and seafood shacks. Those that love the outdoors can join the Cinder Track trail through the Yorkshire countryside all the way to Scarborough.

About Whitby
Famously the setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, there’s something hauntingly beautiful about Whitby. The ruins of Whitby Abbey, set atop a windy hill overlooking the town, are just like a scene from a gothic novel. When the sun sets, ghost tours amble through the cobbled streets, revealing the town’s dramatic history. By day it’s all idyllic fishing village vibes, with a hint of Victorian holidays. Host
This home is managed by Oliver
This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.
This home is nominated for the Plum Guide Award.
