Minimal, yet quirky, this home right in the heart of Palermo is a dream find for anyone itching to explore the historic capital of Sicily on foot. Visit the 12th century Cathedral, just a fifteen-minute walk, or the markets – the closest being Vucciria, a five-minute stroll from home. And if it’s a dose of Italian culture you’re after, visit the neoclassical Massimo theatre known for its acoustics to experience a night at the opera – get there on foot in under fifteen minutes. Between the sights, shops, and sitting down for cappuccino and tiramisu at cafes, you’ll find yourself at your most comfortable at home. Wake up late before gathering around the picnic-style table for breakfast. Open the large, shuttered windows and allow the sounds of the city to blow in on the breeze as you brew coffee. After, find your cosiest spot in the house – our personal favourite would be the sofa in the mezzanine – and sit back with a copy of The Divine Comedy. The kitchen may not be the biggest, but it’s well enough equipped for you to try and replicate some of your favourite meals with the fresh ingredients procured from the market, but if you just want to nip out for dinner, then you’ll find a whole host of them by walking just five minutes.
