Chichester’s mix of galleries, theatres, and historical landmarks make it quite the catch for a stay in West Sussex – especially when home is just a four-minute walk from the cathedral and eight to the iconic buttercross. That said, natural delights are also nearby, with South Downs National Park a six-minute drive northeast, and Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the same distance southwest. But after tackling the walking routes of the region, you’ll need a place to hang up your hiking boots. In a charming street in the city’s conservation area, the red bricks and stucco portico of this Grade II listed townhouse offer a warm welcome. Though traditional and rustic from the outside, this home has a few surprises within. In architectural contrast, we love the modern skylight in the kitchen, bathing the entire space in light – and it also works nicely for gazing up to night skies after dark.
