Formerly occupied by Whitby's famous Aunty Alice, this old sweet shop once saw children flock for delicious hard-boiled sweets and melt-in-the-mouth chocolates. Aunty Alice and her sisters ran the shop right through the war years up until the 1980s – meaning this spot is home to many sweet memories among some hard times in history. A slice of calm, away from the busy cobbled streets of Whitby, today, the sweatshop is a transformed and contemporary apartment. As a bright and airy ground-floor apartment, this home now serves as an idyllic base for those looking to discover the best of Whitby – with a short stay within walking distance from the town's centre. Pale and neutral colours offer a real sense of calm while reflecting the natural surroundings – with Whitby Beach reachable in just eighteen minutes on foot. From the feature window seat, look out to catch a glimpse of the iconic Whitby Abbey, which inspired Bram Stoker's gothic novel 'Dracula'. We particularly love how the open plan living area incorporates work from local artist Bridget Wilkinson with Whitby-themed fine art prints injecting a pop of colour through the understated colour palette. Just a ten-minute walk away from the town... centre and an abundance of cosy pubs, fish restaurants, seaside cafes, and idyllic scenery, this spot in Whitby offers a tranquil escape for those looking to venture away from life's working routines and daily stresses.

About Whitby
Famously the setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, there’s something hauntingly beautiful about Whitby. The ruins of Whitby Abbey, set atop a windy hill overlooking the town, are just like a scene from a gothic novel. When the sun sets, ghost tours amble through the cobbled streets, revealing the town’s dramatic history. By day it’s all idyllic fishing village vibes, with a hint of Victorian holidays.
