Groups of friends or extended family will love the separate annex housing a sitting room, kitchen, and two bedrooms for that added sense of space. But it’s the gardens outside impressing us the most. With large terraces hugged by citrus groves, tiers of dry-stone walls, and Sicilian hills beyond, the views out here look good from every angle. When it’s time to dip your toes into the local culture, the nearby medieval town of Randazzo (a five-kilometre drive) is an afternoon well spent. For something a little more glitzy, mingle with the high-rollers down at the chic resort town of Taormina (40-kilometre drive). Or pack up a picnic and head for the silky sands of Giardini Naxos – the scenic 30-kilometre journey is worth the drive alone.
