Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Housed in a historical building, just a stone’s throw from the Piazza di Santa Croce, this apartment mixes original architectural fixtures like double-height ceilings with antique furnishings, intricate frescoes and the occasional swipe of colour. We were particularly fond of the Venetian plaster walls and the king-size bed dating back to the 1800s. Mornings begin with breakfast in the rustic kitchen before curling up on the armchair with a book pulled from the shelves and a cup of milky coffee. If the weather is fair, head out onto your private terrace and bask in the golden sunshine. When you’re keen to explore a little, take the ten-minute wander to the iconic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, followed by a stroll along the River Arno. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop by one of the many eateries that surround your home (the gelateria on Via dei Neri is a must for afters.)

Local guide
About Santa Croce
Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....
