Located in Rome’s Balduina neighbourhood – on Monte Mario's southern slope – this elegant apartment is an ideal base for those looking for a calm, sunny stay away from the tourist crowds. Bursting with ornate details and an abundance of natural light, this home blends subtle luxe with inviting comfort in perfect, stylish harmony. We love the glossy marble floors that dazzle in the sunlight, as well as the nods to Roman history in the artwork and ornaments. Make yourself comfortable on the plump mustard-coloured sofas with a glass of Italian wine, or better yet, sip a sundowner on the private balcony as the light fades over the neighbourhood’s rooftops. About Valle Aurelia
Valle Aurelia is directly behind the Vatican, but you’d never guess from the number of tourists. Perhaps the nickname, Valle dell’Inferno (Valley of Hell) is enough to put them off. Rest assured though, it’s not a comment on the place, rather a reference to the presence of enormous furnaces in the area, which were in use up until the 1920s. It was the heart of metalworking, clay firing and brickmaking in Rome for centuries, and this instilled a vibrant working-class character to the neighbourhood, which endures today.
