This pretty 19th century Cotswolds stone cottage once belonged to wool workers, and has now been faithfully restored into a charming country retreat. The inside is homely – wooden furniture, green checkerboard tiles in the kitchen and a wood burning stove create a cosy rustic feel. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking up family meals, and on the days you don’t fancy cooking, head to the excellent country pub round the corner, which has a large garden for sunny summer days, and a roaring log fire inside on cooler evenings. There are plenty of public footpaths leading from the village through beautiful pastoral scenery. From a little jaunt taking you past the Didmarton Chapel, to a five mile walk to the Badminton Estate deer park, there’s something for everyone. If you’d like to see the backyard of the future king of England, drive seven minutes to the beautifully kept Highgrove Gardens. When you get home, cosy up with a book in front of the fire, or enjoy a hard earned movie together after the day’s adventure.
