While this cottage close to Brixham's harbour might look quaint and old-timey from the outside, a recent renovation has brought the interior well and truly into the 21st century. The design is fresh and bright throughout, thanks to the stark white walls, smart wooden floors and large windows that bathe the space with natural light. One of the home's biggest perks is the outdoor space. Head out the back door and you're greeted with a terrace surrounded by a stone wall that has an alfresco table and barbecue ready and waiting for summer evening feasts. If the temperature ever dips too much, you can always retire to the living room and take up residence next to the log burner. The surrounding town of Brixham is a lovely place to wander about, especially along the seafront and marina. The Golden Hind Museum Ship lies all of two minutes away and there's a vast range of restaurants, cafes and shops with which to get acquainted, too. A little further afield, you can walk twenty-five minutes along the South West Coast Path to reach the secluded beach at Churston Cove.

Clustered along the water’s edge and rising with the hills, the homes of Brixham are a particularly pretty sight at night, when the light from their interiors reflects off the sea below.
