With timber-clad walls, sloping wooden ceilings and an overstuffed tartan armchair, this top-floor apartment really is as cosy as it looks. It's got chalet charm in spades and plenty of space to spread out, too – not to mention idyllic views of the snow-capped mountains from the skylight-style windows. Watch the skiers fly down the piste as you rustle up something tasty in the kitchen – we suggest Òlha Aranesa, a Val d'Aran staple that's a warming antidote to a day on the slopes. After dinner, play a few board games around the table – older guests can enjoy a glass of Cava while they join in – before soaking your worries away (and relaxing your sore muscles) in the bathtub. Best of all is the fantastic location – you're just a two-minute walk from the gondola lift, which can whisk you away to the runs on the Baqueira-Beret ski resort. Also on your doorstep are swanky wine bars, local restaurants and fantastic hiking trails if you're visiting during the warmer months.
