Nothing makes a statement quite like a house painted black. Set in the exclusive Doheny Estates enclave of LA, you’ll find a beautiful contrast here between the black exterior and crisp white interior of this home, and then again with the bright green of the vibrant palms outside. Outside, by the way, is where you’ll likely spend most of your time, and with good reason. Sunbathe on the raised platform until you’ve been sufficiently warmed by the LA sun before slipping into the pool for a cool dip, floating on your back so you can gaze up at the line of tightly packed palms. Grill burgers when lunchtime comes around and eat alfresco, sitting down at the concrete island or the outdoor table. Of course you can also head out for a bite to eat – there are a number of restaurants, coffee shops, and burger joints within a short drive. Days out can be spent shopping in Beverly Hills or walking in celebrities’ footsteps at the Walk of Fame. Don’t forget to get a picture with the Hollywood Sign, and by driving around thirty minutes in the other direction, you’ll get to the famous Santa Monica Pier. Come home to the luxurious comfort of the home, lighting the fireplace to enjoy a cosy evening on the sofa with a glass of wine. Unwind in the tub by running yourself a bubble bath, and retire to any one of the generous bedrooms – the one with its own fireplace is our favourite. Spend every sunset outdoors around the firepit as you roast marshmallows, nibble, and enjoy each other’s company as the stars wink to life.
