Perfectly positioned right on the harbour, this fisherman's cottage could not be better located for a family getaway in Cemaes Bay. Here, days are meant to be spent by the sea – and you won't have to travel far to do just that. Traeth Mawr, a sandy stretch of beach where you can while away sunny afternoons, is just a quick stroll away, as are cosy pubs, cutesy gift shops and charming cafes. Even closer is the Anglesey Coast Path if you fancy a trek along the seafront – it's on your doorstep – or bring along your kayaks and boat and easily take to the water, thanks to the slipway right out front. Inside, every room radiates down-home seaside living – and they each show off the scenery, too. Sprawl out on the plump sofas and watch a film on the DVD player, prepare a delicious feast in the stylish kitchen or, after a long day on your feet, curl up in the sumptuous beds for some much-needed R&R. The best part? It has to be your private patio, where you can savour a gin and tonic in the evening rays and watch the ships bob in the harbour. With... views like that, you won't be able to pull yourself away – imagine morning cups of coffee in the salt-tinged air, alfresco lunches in the summer sunshine and twilight nightcaps as the stars twinkle and reflect in dark water. In our opinion, that sounds like pure bliss.

Sandy, Blue Flag beaches, rocky cliff tops and mysterious caves mean this is the place to be in, on, or at least near the water. There are miles of scenic walkways and cycle paths...
