Lying on a quiet street in the Snowdonian market town of Dolgellau, this recently renovated house is much more contemporary than the stone exterior would have you believe. Muted grey walls and ceilings make for an instantly bright and welcoming interior, while the choice of furnishings is simple and unfussy – which we mean as a compliment. Both the kitchen and bathroom are sleek, while the bare lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling in the living room are striking. You'll be happy to hear that it's an address where it's easy to feel cosy, particularly with the pair of foot spas available to use. In the surrounding town, you'll discover plenty of restaurants to keep you fuelled for days of exploring the hiking and cycling routes in the surrounding Snowdonia National Park. The beach town of Barmouth is only twenty minutes' drive away when the only thing for it is an afternoon at the seaside.

Snowdonia National Park is a hiker’s paradise and home to Wales’ biggest lake and highest mountain. After you’ve tackled Snowdon (we won’t tell if you take the little train), there are countless other peaks and trails to explore, many...
