Popular in the Victorian era for seaside breaks, Seahouses is a typical fishing village on the Northumberland Coast. From your central location within the village, you can head to the harbour to take a boat for puffin and seabird spotting on the Farne Islands. A few minutes’ walk away you’ve got charming streets packed with traditional fish and chip shops and friendly cafés. Hopping in the car you can explore the sights of the Northumberland Coast AONB, from Bamburgh Castle to Alnwick Gardens. Cosy and welcoming, this former smokery turned cottage is a delight to return to at the end of the day. High ceilings are countered with the gentle crackle of a wood-burning stove in the centre of the living room. The vast stone fireplace is certainly the main focus of the open-plan living area. Each bedroom has been decorated with soothing sleep in mind, from the buttery-yellow main to the violet double. The best thing about this place is its proximity to the sea. Stepping out the front door, you’re met with the sound of the waves and an expanse of blue stretching to the horizon – the beach is right on your doorstep.
