Tucked away at the foot of the Cheviot Massif in the Northumberland National Park, this stunning stone cottage offers all the charm of a country retreat. A walker’s paradise, you’ll have access to the circular Hillfort Trails in the College Valley right on your doorstep. In the mornings, enjoy leisurely breakfasts at the family-style table in the garden as you plan your hiking routes. Hethas Hike, Ring Chesters Round, Four Forts Foray and the River and Ramparts Ramble await you – you might get lucky and sight wild goat, deer, red grouse and peregrine. When you return home, head to the living room where a wood-burning fire will make you nice and toasty – sink into the sofa and turn pages of your new read, interrupted only by the crackle of the fire. The farmhouse-style kitchen is perfect for preparing hearty home-cooked meals after a long day biking, fishing or horseriding. This area is known for its stargazing, garnering a Dark Sky Park award – wrap up and head out to the patio for a glass of red wine and watch the moon illuminate the rugged peaks. It's easy to spend all day wandering the moors around the home, but if you’re seeking sand, Cocklawburn Beach and its stunning coastline are within driving distance.

About The Northumberland Coast

Right at the top of England, Northumberland’s great expanse is dotted with medieval strongholds that have seen many a bloody battle. A landscape rich with history, you can explore the crumbling ruins of clifftop castles or tour restored and retained masterpieces at Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle. Fishing villages punctuate the sweeps of undiscovered beaches along the coastline. Tangles of lobster pots sit on old stone harbours while boats trundle...
