Seaside village life is on your doorstep at this Yorkshire cottage nestled away in charming Hinderwell and just one mile from the shores of Port Mulgrave. From the outside, this period home is as pretty as a picture, and inside, things only get better. Every corner of the cottage feels restful and considered. Sophisticated warm neutrals keep everything oh-so-classy, while houseplants and botanical print textiles bring pops of colour and a flash of modernity. With a wood-burning stove to hunker down beside and storybook armchairs and window seats for afternoon lolls with the papers, it’s a delightful place to be, whatever the weather brings. But on fine days, it’s outside chasing the sun between the front and rear garden terraces where you’ll want to be. Get together at the bistro table with morning coffees to watch village life go by, then head into the lawned garden later for evening drinks and barbecues. When it’s time to mingle with the locals, there’s a restaurant, olde-worlde pub (0.1 miles away), butchers, and general store delivering all the village vibes you’re chasing. Be sure to swing by the Old School for lashings of tea and cake – it’s quite the hub of the village. Then... hop on the coastal bus (it stops just beyond your garden gate) bound for the impossibly beautiful fishing village and beach of Staithes (one and a half miles away) – or in the opposite direction, charming Whitby (nine miles).

About Whitby
Famously the setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, there’s something hauntingly beautiful about Whitby. The ruins of Whitby Abbey, set atop a windy hill overlooking the town, are just like a scene from a gothic novel. When the sun sets, ghost tours amble through the cobbled streets, revealing the town’s dramatic history. By day it’s all idyllic fishing village vibes, with a hint of Victorian holidays.
