Not far from Norwich, yet surrounded by the blissfully peaceful Norfolk Broads, this converted barn offers an away-from-it-all retreat. Walk a few minutes to the shores of the River Yare, where marshes and inlets are home to all sorts of wading birds and wildflowers. In the area, you’ll find boat hires and day charters for adventures on the Broads. For a taste of civilisation and Tudor architecture, head into the buzzing city of Norwich, a twenty-minute drive away. But you may prefer to spend your days in the peaceful quiet surrounding the former barn. There’s a patio with rattan chairs for a tipple in the sun and double glass doors open up to the open-plan living area. In here, the old wooden beams of the barn are on display and the double-height ceiling gives an open, breezy feel. There’s plenty of room on lively blue and yellow sofas and in the fully-equipped kitchen. Bedrooms tucked at the back are quiet hideaways.
