The Lake District is one of England’s most cherished holiday spots, and it’s very easy to understand why. Striking scenes of huge bodies of water, rugged mountain peaks, and lush greenery as far as the eye can see – especially at its most famous lake, Windermere. Your cottage-like home is just a mile from the town centre of the same name. And with the banks of the lake an easy hike from here, you’ll need somewhere to hang up your boots. Set on acres of private pasture and thick woods, this Cumbrian estate plays host to several holiday homes. But your apartment is in a lodge-like building set away from the main building. White walls, rustic wooden doors, and a slate roof certainly sound traditional on paper, but the interiors beg to differ. Your beautifully elongated living space takes you from a white, glossy kitchen, to the velvet quilted chairs of the dining area, and all the way to the Scandi minimalism of the lounge. This bright, open-plan space is wonderful for entertaining, especially as you’ve got the modern bi-fold doors leading right out to your private patio. Take a bottle of champers with you as you head out to light up...

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
