Of all The Lakes of Cumbria, Windermere has to be the most majestic. Not only because of its size, but its striking setting of rugged mountains and lush forests to boot. At times tranquil, and at other times a hub for watersports and wild swimmers, you’ll certainly be able to try everything from this apartment just two miles from its shores. And with Windermere town itself around a twenty-minute stroll from your front door, a cosy pub in the evening doesn’t sound too shabby either. Coming home after a pint of local ale will feel like a dream. Refurbished and modernised to the highest degree, this former country house was built in the 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement. With large surrounding gardens, you’ll already be making plans for brunch on the lawn. Perhaps even with special visitors – local roe deer who often roam these historic grounds. Inside this penthouse apartment, old-world luxury is replaced with 21st-century elegance. Cream is the dominant colour in the palette, creating a zen-like feel in the living room. With sloped ceilings and walls, there’s a loft-like look that feels more city apartment than country manor. But as soon as you peer out of any... window, there’s no question where you are. Greenery, treetops, and the sound of birds cement your rural Cumbrian location.

About The Lake District
Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
