Within the winding streets of historic Alfama is where Lisbon truly comes to life. The red rooftops and the river are just one part of the landscape, while on the ground, your home is just 400 metres from the Museu do Fado, and 850 from the striking Cathedral of Lisbon. For your daily dose of panoramic views, there are multiple miradouros to choose from, but the scene from your apartment also measures up. Wander up the historic cobbled street of your home, whose inviting yellow walls offer you a cheery entrance. Stepping inside after a long day of sightseeing, the first thing to do is pour yourself a chilled glass of vinho verde. Take a seat on the modern sofa of the understated living space, where wooden floors and a zen colour palette allow for the main feature to stand out – that view. Open the French windows to the balcony and take in the sights of the city. From the huge cruise liners on the river’s edge, to the crumbling brickwork of this ancient part of town, you’ll be amazed at the scenery. As well as being the perfect place to sip local wine, a morning espresso wouldn’t go amiss here either.

About Alfama

As Lisbon’s oldest neighbourhood, it’s not surprising that Alfama is also the corner of the city with the most character. Here, you’ll get an authentic taste of the real Portugal, away from the tourist-trodden trails of the centre. Unlike most of Lisbon, this area survived the famous 1755 earthquake, preserving an image of the old capital. Steep, cobbled streets are flanked with down-to-earth cafés, crumbling churches and intimate fado venues...
