Camping, bird-spotting, wild swimming, canoeing, and hiking – the Lake District has more than enough to keep you busy. One mile away from the town centre of lakeside Keswick, this delightful cottage is the ideal place to dry off after a day of adventure. And at only a five-minute walk from the Derwent Water Marina, you won’t have any trouble getting to and from the shores. From the outside, the cottage offers a little sense of modernity as well as history. With rustic stone walls halfway up, then a fresh white paint job for the first floor, the exterior is a splendid display of old and new. You’ve even got a classic red postbox built in the wall – very handy for all the postcards you’ll be sending. Inside, the living space feels fresh and understated. With cosy sofas and an upholstered footrest, you’ll love putting up your sore feet after a long day of hiking. Pour yourself a tumbler of whisky and get the fire going before heading upstairs for a soak in the bath. Is there any better way to end a day of walking the English countryside? Welll on a sunny day, it might be possible –... head out to sit among the flowers and foliage on your private patio, with an ice-cold G&T in hand.
