This stunning stone-built home in the heart of the Dordogne is the perfect romantic couple’s retreat. Dating back to 1822, this lovingly restored home oozes both character and charm. It can be found on a quiet cobbled lane in the delightful market town of Le Bugue. Featuring an ancient fountain and rose-filled courtyard, this historic home epitomises French country chic. You’ll love taking your morning coffee and croissants out on the bedroom balcony, preparing your favourite foods in the open-plan kitchen and dining room – think tiled floors, exposed brick walls and beautiful beamed ceilings – and feasting alfresco in the fragrant courtyard. While away hours chatting over a good bottle of wine or chill out in the sitting room before padding across the parquet floors to bed. If you can tear yourself away from such seductive seclusion, why not wander into Le Bugue, where you can pick up the following morning’s croissants from the boulangerie, find pretty patisseries, discover new vintages in one of the finest wine caves in the region, and dine in local eateries.
