Contemporary boldness meets rustic charm at this unique apartment in the heart of Le Marais. A curated collection of objects and artworks make this home worthy of an interiors magazine – we especially loved the contrast between the original wooden beams and industrial girders. You'll love waking up in one of the light-filled bedrooms and looking out onto a quintessential Parisian street scene, before padding through to the kitchen for pastries and fresh hot coffee. The surrounding neighbourhood has plenty of history and is full of Parisian style, from vintage stores to upmarket boutiques. You'll find plenty of museums, galleries and cute restaurants in Le Marais' winding streets, and getting around the rest of the city is easy from the Rambuteau Metro station. Then, when the evening rolls around, get comfy on the sofa with a glass of wine as you plan your next move.

Home truths
The bathrooms are functional but definitely on the small side – the shower tiles can be slippery
There is no air conditioning or central heating, but fans are available and electric radiators are in every room
Checkout is conducted in person by a greeter who will collect the keys and carry out an inventory
Though this host provides a cleaning kit, the kitchen lacks basic condiments like salt, pepper, and sugar
There’s also a toilet bag in every bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body milk (BotElixir brand) – all products are an essential oil blend of lemon/rosemary, paraben free, and hypoallergenic
You'll have to climb stairs here – the building's communal entrance and stairs are a tad worn and dated
