This is a modern house but one with a distinctly classic Hollywood style - tucked away in the oasis of the hills of Beachwood Canyon. The home mixes contemporary comforts with a collection of antiques, art and vintage treasures that makes the living space and cute-as-a-button bedrooms feel cosy yet grand at the same time. Stepping in to look around, you'll notice the high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and stone-hearth fireplace that exudes heaps of rustic charm, while the grand piano takes you back to the bygone Golden Age of Hollywood. Wandering through the living room, you'll feel like you're walking along the walls of a castle with the iron chandelier and long dark wood dining table fit for a king or queen. Speaking of, the views from just about every room look out onto the dramatic rolling hills, with one of the bedrooms overlooking a genuine Hollywood-style castle – complete with a drawbridge and moat. Outside, stretch out on your sun-soaked wraparound balcony and enjoy breakfast on the elegant outdoor dining area surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery. Beyond this characterful home, you'll find scenic Griffith Park a ten-minute drive away, that's perfect for morning runs or longer afternoon hikes. And if you're looking for the glitz and glam of tinsel town, then take the nine-minute drive to the star-studded Hollywood Boulevard and its prestigious Walk of Fame.

Home truths
While this home sleeps ten people, we think it's better suited to a maximum of eight adults and two children as the loft bedroom is most appropriate for kids
We strongly recommend hiring a car as this home is fairly remote – there is free parking space for two cars on the driveway and a further two cars on the street with permits provided by the host
You'll have to manoeuvre some winding and narrow roads to get to this property
The newly built upper bedrooms have a window air con unit, but your host is working on installing a better system imminently
The owner sometimes occupies a lower in-law unit with a separate entrance and living space

About Hollywood Hills
The canyons and slopes of the Hollywood Hills, which run from Hollywood west to the canyons above Beverly Hills, are best seen from the winding concourse of Mulholland Drive, threading the crest of the mountains. With its striking panorama after dark of the illuminated city-grid stretching nearly to the horizon, the road is a prime axis for the LA good life, with mansions so commonplace that only the half-dozen fully...

One of LA's best Thai restaurants, consistently delivering wild, fresh flavours. Beware though, the heat can get extreme in some dishes.

Of Swingers fame, this joint is pure class. Marty and Elayne still perform, so grab a martini and sidle up.

A great place for a picnic, and afterwards check out Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock house. Open Thursday through Sunday.
Stop by the cafe on the corner

Host
This home is managed by Mimi
This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Miranda and her husband are both musicians who travel the world performing, but we think she could easily have a second career as a designer as the house has been so beautifully and thoughtfully put together. Miranda loves nothing more than scouring LA's flea markets, vintage stores and thrift stores to find treasures for the house.
