This home really is one of a kind. Ideal for nature lovers, this cottage stands beside a lighthouse in the heart of the South Walney Nature Reserve at the southern tip of Cumbria. Staying here, you’re surrounded by wildlife, with sea views as well as those of the nature reserve. At high tide, you may spot grey seals bobbing off the coast. Using the handy bird-watching guidebooks and binoculars at the cottage, you’ll have the chance to spot birds like willow warblers, sandwich terns and eider ducks. The cottage has a cosy, contemporary feel. Everything you need for your stay has been thought of, so you can focus on relaxing and making the most of your unique home-from-home. We love the log burner – after a day spent out in the fresh air, it’s lovely to curl up beside the fire with a glass of wine. You don’t even need to leave the cottage to enjoy the setting, as the views are incredible, especially at sunrise and sunset.

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
