If you’re looking for a beach break, it’s hard to beat the location of this cute little villa for two. The caster sugar sand of Kouremenos Beach is just footsteps away – one of Crete’s lesser-visited spots so you’ll practically have the place to yourself. The local taverna is also a three-minute stroll away (plus they deliver for no extra fee) and you can hit the tavernas and shops of Palekastro, an easy eight minutes by car. Should you tire of the crystal-clear sea to swim in, this villa has its own private swimming pool. The verdant lawn is home to a couple of sun loungers to dry off and a table and chairs for a tipple as the sun sets over the hills around you. In the shade of the terrace, you can enjoy dining alfresco thanks to the barbecue. Inside, the open-plan living area embraces island tradition with thick, exposed stone walls and a fireplace in the heart of the seating area. We love the dining table with its bench seat cosily tucked into a nook and sleek wooden shelves dotted with object d’art. In the bedroom, you’ve got glass doors opening up onto the terrace so you can greet the morning straight from bed.

Home truths

This home is in a fairly remote location, so having a car is recommended – there is private parking at this villa

Part of a complex with other adult-only villas, the driveway is shared – however, the garden, pool and patio are completely private

There is a taverna within walking distance (which delivers at no extra cost), but walking back at night is unlit so a torch is recommended

Though there isn't a dedicated desk here, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace

This home is all on one level, including the bedroom and bathroom, so it may suit those with limited mobility

You'll have your own private entrance here
