Back in the Victorian era, folk would flock to the pretty coastal village of Seahouses for their summer hols. And the centre still has that sticky ice cream fingers and fish-and-chips vibe, amidst the shamble of harbourside houses. This period cottage puts you in the heart of Seahouses, a short walk from cosy pubs and the boat to the puffin-filled Farne Islands. Beyond the charming stone facade, you’ll find a cosy living room where a wood-burning stove can keep things warm and inviting. A big bay window lets in plenty of natural light during the day and tan leather sofa contrast with the midnight-blue feature wall. The kitchen continues the cottage vibe with its Belfast sink and wood-panelled cabinets, and there’s plenty of room to dine in here too. Finally, the bedrooms are cosy havens and the main bedroom’s wrought-iron bed is reminiscent of the village’s Victorian heyday.

About The Northumberland Coast

Right at the top of England, Northumberland’s great expanse is dotted with medieval strongholds that have seen many a bloody battle. A landscape rich with history, you can explore the crumbling ruins of clifftop castles or tour restored and retained masterpieces at Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle. Fishing villages punctuate the sweeps of undiscovered beaches along the coastline. Tangles of lobster pots sit on old stone harbours while boats trundle...
