Barefoot days await at this Danish coastal retreat, set just a 900-metre amble from the fine, white sands of the seaside resort of Marielyst, along the eastern coast of Falster. Outside, this home is prime for alfresco living, with vast terraces to soak up the morning sun over lazy breakfasts while little ones burn off some energy on the lawns. Stepping inside, we love the pared-back interiors with clapboard finishes and a muted palette that the Danes do so well. But it's the private sauna and Jacuzzi bath that's getting us hot under the collar. It’s perfect for a spot of rejuvenation while kids (and big kids) busy themselves with a game of table tennis or pool. When it’s time to embrace the great outdoors, follow the boardwalks down to Marielyst’s shores, stretching for more than 20 km – its soft sands and shallow waters are ideal for families. Or, for something more adrenaline-fuelled, hit the nearby waterpark – you’ll have free entry included with your stay. It's just one of the many perks of staying in this charming holiday village with restaurants, cafes and shopping all just a hop, skip and a jump away.
