If you don't mind your private living quarters being a little no-thrills, this aparthotel in the centre of Milan will be a solid base when travelling to the Italian capital, especially when the perks are taken into consideration. Behind the front door, there's no lounge or kitchen to speak of – only a bedroom and bathroom, along with a desk, sofa, mini-fridge and coffee maker, too. We should mention that the design is easy on the eye, all neutrals, shiny wood and chic furnishings. Yes, it's tight on space, but there are some rather glossy communal areas in the building in which to hang out, such as the workspace, the airy lobby and the equally handsome dining rooms where you can order breakfast in the morning. The biggest draw of the home has to be the fantastic location, though. Sitting within the city's historical centre, the surrounding streets are full of smart architecture and lively bistros in which to sample the local cuisine. Piazza del Duomo is eight minutes' walk away when you want to see the famous cathedral, while Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II lies just beyond if you've got an empty suitcase ready to be filled with the conquests from a shopping spree.
