There's something very special about beach living – the sound of the waves, the light reflecting off the ocean. It's even more special when the beach in question is in Malibu. This private and gated estate has been remodelled by the well-known architect Berton Charles Severson, and it's a work of art. The vast deck looks out over 60 feet of ocean frontage – we can genuinely say the sunsets here are sensational – enjoy them from the hot tub. Or unwind in the courtyard, which has a distinct Hawaiian feel. Inside, there's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends, and there are also more of those amazing vistas – we particularly adore the ones from the main bedroom. If the weather turns a bit chilly, gather around the open fire with its stone-clad surround – the perfect spot for a glass of wine. There's a gym to keep up your fitness regime while away too. Descend the staircase off the deck and stroll through the tropical gardens and down the road onto the gorgeous sandy beach – we didn't want to leave, would you?
