Designed by the famous architect William Krisel, there's an air of sophistication to this Palm Springs home. Much of that is down to the midcentury-modern furnishings and finishes of the sort that get design nerds – ourselves included – nodding fervently with admiration. We're particularly fond of the wood-panelled kitchen and cosy fireplace in the living room. However, this isn't an address that takes itself too seriously. Step out through the glass doors and you're greeted with lots of ways to enjoy the Californian summers. The first thing that's likely to grab your attention is the swimming pool in the middle of the garden overlooked by palms and mountains. However, you can just as easily relax on the loungers, dine on the alfresco table or get cosy around the firepit once the sun's disappeared beneath the horizon. When you're in the mood to see a little more of this inimitable city, there are galleries and restaurants in the bustling Downtown area, only a mile-and-a-half from the home. In the wider area, you'll never be short of hiking routes and well-kempt golf courses, either.
