As the sunset silhouettes the surrounding palm trees against a glowing sky, it’s time to get the fire pit going on the terrace. There’s also a barbecue out here and plenty of room for the group to dine. In typical Palm Springs style, floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead from the living area to the terrace, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. Plush velvet armchairs and a sofa are a nod to the 1960s and the living, dining room and kitchen are open-plan and sociable. We love the wicker chairs facing the terrace that feel as though you’re in a solarium. The added bonus is a garage converted into a separate games room so the kids can have their own space. For all the restaurants, bakeries, cafes and shops of Downtown Palm Springs, it’s just a five-minute drive (or twenty-minute walk) to Palm Canyon Drive. You’re in the hip Movie Colony neighbourhood here where the mid-century homes have seen the likes of Frank Sinatra stay.
