And when the seaside finally lures you, the turquoise waters of Spiaggia Plaia are only a short drive away (nine kilometres, to be exact). Back home, we've fallen hard for the architectural heritage features of this cavernous apartment, starting with those star-vaulted ceilings synonymous with Puglia. Let the exposed stone archways guide you from one lofty space to another in the main living quarters – all flooded with natural daylight thanks to those picture windows revealing views of the big blue skies and glistening sea beyond. While down a flight of spiral staircases, you'll find three bedrooms as serene as the next. And the piece resistance? That impressive sun terrace, with sweeping panoramic views from the Itria Valley to the Adriatic coast – it's got sundowners and evening barbecues written all over it.
