This fairytale of a villa complex would suit a group that enjoys gathering together for the social hours in the huge outdoor space, while being able to retreat to individual nooks at the end of the day. There are five separate buildings, all of which embrace the traditional architecture of Puglia – cone-shaped trulli and lamie houses. Sun-dappled patios and a huge turquoise pool in the centre of the garden invite you to spend days together outside. The gardens are splashed with the pinks of bougainvillea and geraniums between ancient olive trees, making dining on shaded terrace a delight. Throughout the garden you’ll find loungers on lawns, a free-standing hammock and a rocking sofa – plenty of places to relax with a good book. Inside, thick stone walls keep things naturally cool. Crisp white walls let the architecture speak for itself and each little house comes with its own seating area so the group can spread out. There’s a main kitchen for the chef of the group to potter about in – that’s if they’re not too busy firing up the grill outside and making the most of Puglia’s near-constant blue skies. For a day out, it’s a short drive to the UNESCO-protected town of Ostuni, where bright white buildings tumble down a hillside and the narrow streets are filled with boutiques, restaurants and pavement cafes.

• While the swimming pool is usually open to guests from 1st June to 30th September, it can be opened outside of this period for an additional fee

• Your host can provide extra towels for an additional fee of €10 per person and extra bedding for €10 per person
