Mere minutes from the Louvre, there's no doubt that location is this studio apartment's best quality. Nestled in Les Halles, you'll be walking distance from many of Paris' must-see sights – and with multiple metro stations nearby, those further afield will also be within easy reach. It's a small space, but the quirky style packs a punch. Bold colours add some much-needed character, especially since there's only one window and no natural light – and the staircase to the first floor is rather dark, too. As there's no wi-fi here and the kitchenette is too compact for cooking, you'll spend most of your time out and about – not a problem, as restaurants, cafes and landmarks aplenty await on your doorstep.

Where to begin with one of Paris's most majestic and central districts? This was the stomping ground of historic kings, and now its grand palaces and squares are home to museums, galleries, government offices, and luxury shopping. With no fewer than three Royal palaces, the attractions are plentiful in this neck of the woods. If checking out the Mona Lisa with throngs of tourists isn't your thing, we recommend exploring some of the area's quieter hidden gems. Colonnes de Burennes has a gorgeous secret square and Alain Ducasse's world-famous French restaurant 'Le Meurice' is just around the corner.
