Only one kilometre from the fine sands at Praia do Carvalhal, this calming retreat places you a few minutes away from ideal surfing spots, oceanside restaurants, and designer retailers. By driving north, you'll soon stumble across the wine-producing village of Comporta, steeped in a rich history stretching right back to the Roman Empire. Whether it's horse riding, golfing, or birdwatching that you fancy, there are a wealth of activities for everyone to enjoy on your doorstep. Promising natural views over the rice paddies, sunbathing poolside couldn't be more scenic. We think the wooden pergola is the perfect place to sneak off to after an alfresco breakfast, carrying a local newspaper and a cup of Portuguese galão. Perhaps you'll brush past the mature trees after meeting your private chef and plan an excursion in the dappled light. Alternatively, in chillier months, just imagine gathering around the cosy fireplace. Beneath exposed wood beams in the characterful living space, you'll be certain to reconnect with your loved ones.
