This charming apartment is a superb base for those seeking a peaceful stay in Rome. It’s slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the touristy hotspots but is close to the Vatican, tucked away on a quiet street. It’s easy to explore the rest of Rome using public transport – Cipro metro station is a short walk away. You’ll have a balcony to sip your morning coffee on and a practical kitchen for dining at home. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the open-plan living and dining space, so if you’re hoping for more privacy we’d stick to a maximum guest count of four.

About Valle Aurelia

Valle Aurelia is directly behind the Vatican, but you’d never guess from the number of tourists. Perhaps the nickname, Valle dell’Inferno (Valley of Hell) is enough to put them off. Rest assured though, it’s not a comment on the place, rather a reference to the presence of enormous furnaces in the area, which were in use up until the 1920s. It was the heart of metalworking, clay firing and brickmaking in Rome for centuries, and this instilled a vibrant working-class character to the neighbourhood, which endures today.
