This modern apartment, just footsteps from the pebbles of Sandgate Beach, is everything we want in a place on the coast. It’d be remiss not to begin with the uninterrupted sea views – watch the waves roll from the balcony as you sip a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. When it comes to the interiors, the place takes inspiration from its surroundings. Expect driftwood furniture, nautical knick-knacks and soft blue accents. On cooler days, the woodburning stove is a welcome addition. We recommend curling up on the soft sofa with a good book and a hot mug of tea. When the sun does shine, stroll along the promenade with an ice cream in hand before heading into the heart of Folkestone for its excellent selection of pubs, cool Creative Quarter and Folkestone Leas Park, which boasts the largest free adventure play area in South East England.

• One well-behaved dog is welcome to join you for an additional £100 per stay, with prior approval from your host

• Your host can help arrange a variety of extra services during your stay, including massages and beauty treatments, wine tours, laundry and dry cleaning, fridge fills, restaurant reservations, private chefs, airport transfers, and car hire

• If you’re travelling with children, your host can organise babysitting services – alternatively, a live-in nanny can be arranged at a cost of £475-£670 per week
