From the first sip of chilled local wine (produced in small batches and provided by your host to welcome you), you know this villa is going to be an ode to Puglian tradition. The conical roofs of the Trulli-style buildings that surround the terrace are another giveaway. It’s a peaceful spot, surrounded by rows and rows of vines with grapes ripening in the southern sun. The beautiful hilltop town of Locorotondo is just four kilometres away, where a shambling maze of pretty whitewashed houses hides cafe-filled squares. Wandering the stone paths and patios of the grounds, you’ll find shaded spots between ancient olive trees, an outdoor kitchen under a towering fir tree and dining on the lawn. We particularly love the lounge spot by the swimming pool, beneath a pergola where sheer white curtains billow in the breeze. And the swimming pool itself is a delight – big enough to swim laps and crowned with a paddling area for the kids. In true Trulli style, there are several kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms spread across the buildings.
