Located on a street running along part of the Doge's Palace, this home puts you smack bang in the centre of Venice’s historic and cultural heart with the Bridge of Sighs and St. Mark’s Square mere minutes on foot from your door. With history on its doorstep, we’re willing to overlook the generic decor and lack of natural light here. That said, the beamed ceilings add a touch of old Venetian charm and the unfussy bedrooms offer welcome spaces to rest your head after a busy day of touring the city’s countless sights nearby.

There's no lift here – access to the apartment is via stairs only, so it may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility
The decor is simple and generic and the aesthetics are not quite up to Plum Guide's usual standards – we've made an exception to let this one into the collection on account of its great location in Venice
